"Mary" | Song Video + Lyrics

I wrote this simple song last week while thinking about how hard we can be on ourselves sometimes. While the song is called "Mary," I didn't write it about one person in particular. If you're going through hard times, I hope this song can speak to you where you're at.

"Mary"

Music and lyrics by Allison Clarke

Mary, why are you crying, why do you hang your head low?

Mary, why are you trying to make shadows a home?

I know your hope is wearing thin

I know the light seems so dim but it’s still shining

I know your thoughts have been unkind

And all the good that’s pushed aside needs reconciling

Mary, a silver lining is there inside your heart

Mary, I see beauty even when it falls apart

I know your hope is wearing thin

I know the light seems so dim but it’s still shining

I know your thoughts have been unkind

And all the good that’s pushed aside needs reconciling

Mary, you’re still worthy of a smile and better days

Mary, I know the night is heavy but the morning dawn is on its way
